Team Bio: CLX formed in 2003. Mixed club nationals runner-up in 2004. Mixed club nationals semis in 2005. 10th place finisher at 2006 mixed club Worlds. Took a brief break in 2007, with the men and women forming single gender teams that both qualified for nationals in their only year of existence (Small Rackages and The Van Buren Boys). Some Ames players teamed up with some Minnesotans to form Alpha Cobra Squadron in 2008, making semis of mixed club nationals. CLX reformed in 2009, yet again finishing as runner-up to the mixed club national title. We qualified for Worlds again and will be travelling to Prague in July 2010, before returning home to make another attempt at the mixed club title. If all goes well, we hope to obtain the mixed club ultimate "triple crown": A Poultry Days title in June, a World title in July, and that ever-challenging national title in October.
Team History: We've been attending Poultry Days since 2003 and would love the chance to come and compete again. As the team grows up, we've continued to perform at a consistent level (consistently not good enough to win mixed club nationals, see: 2009 runner-up finish). Our performance last year did earn us a berth into Club Worlds in July of 2010 and we'll be using Poultry Days as our final tune-up before heading overseas to try and win an international mixed club title (forget those national titles, so limited in their scope!) Maybe we can finally hoist a trophy at Poultry Days while we're at it (semis, finals, and quarters finishes the last three years). Thank you for your consideration and we hope to attend yet again. Not only is the tournament challenging for the team, it is a chance to hold a CLX reunion as some retired team members make the trip each year to catch up, catch discs, eat chicken, and drink their fill in Versailles. Even if the team breaks up after Worlds this year, we hope to have yearly reunions, especially looking forward to the tenth trip in 2012!
