| 100% free-range, that's what I'm talking about. From the egg to the field, we've never had roofs over our heads, so it comes as no surprise that our wattles and combs have grown magnificently, like some sort of ruby-bedazzled neckerchief. Now I don't want to go into too much detail about big wattles, but let's just say that when you've got 'em, the gettin's good. Am I right or am I right? Me and my dashing dozen, as we sometimes called ourselves, have grown up playing as an open team under the open air, but when the hens caught a glimpse of our sweet beak beards, there was a veritable blizzard of flying feathers. Imagine a Jonas Brothers concert on the set of High School Musical 4, except with birds, and you'll have the beginning of an inkling of what it was like. In short, we've been mixed ever since, taking down some big opponents from some rival coops. Namely those snakes from Farmer Brown's Indoor farm. Bunch of animals - you'd keep them cooped up too, if you were the Browns. It was close, but we pulled it out in the end, never surrendering. As if we would. Now we roam wherever we please, with but one motto on our nonexistent chicken lips: FREE RANGE OR DIE! |
| Team History:
| Originally founded as a alumni team for recent Duke grads, our "alumni" team has expanded to include new members of the coop as we our original crew has dispersed across the country. Our regular roster includes club players from the likes of Chain Lightning, Slow White, Mischief, Ambiguously Grey and more... plus some old friends who manage to 'unretire' and cluck their way back to Versailles every year. After whetting our beaks in 2009 (under the name CDBW), partying through the great deluge of 2010, feasting our way through 2011 and Kan-Jamming with Team Canada in 2012, we are looking to return for 2013. We are excited for our FIFTH Poultry Days and consuming the local Orange Drink under our veins glow neon orange in the cool Versailles summer night. |
